Chemical wash Bedok
A chemical wash in Bedok treats the fan coil in place with a chemical solution to shift fouling that plain water will not, then flushes the drainage line. The unit stays mounted on the wall.
Why this is different here
Bedok's modern development began in 1966. Flats from that era were built before split aircon was standard in HDB housing, so the piping was added afterwards: longer condensate runs at shallow gradient along external walls, which is why choked-drain leaks are the common callout here rather than unit faults.
What actually happens
- The drain pipe is checked for gradient and choke before anything else; in retrofitted runs the fall is often marginal to begin with.
- A vacuum pump clears the condensate line. Blowing it through just pushes the blockage further along the run.
- Fan coil and blower wheel are cleaned; in Singapore's humidity the wheel fouls faster than most owners expect.
